When I was a kid every year my dad would tell the Christmas story. He would start about two weeks before Christmas and the story would end on Christmas Eve. The tree would be up in the side porch, the windows in front of the tree painted, one with a Christmas tree, one with a holly wreath and the center window with the manger scene.
I always wanted to be the one to paint the baby Jesus in the manger. After all it was the most important part of the drawing. Don’t know how often that happened because you see there were five of us kids, one boy and four girls. I was the oldest of the girls, so it seemed to me, I was the natural choice to paint Jesus!
But back to the story, after dinner, homework and baths we would come downstairs in our pajamas, slippers and robes, surround my Father on the couch in the side porch. The tree lights were on, the rest of the house almost dark, our dog Chang at my Dad’s feet and my mother perhaps in the kitchen, taking a break from taking care of five children! And so the story would begin. Click and listen to SANTA’S MOONBEAM Part 1 . And stand by for Part 2!
